While undergoing Radiotherapy I had named my personal battle against this tumour as my ‘Beat the Beast’ campaign. So by undertaking this challenge I am inviting you to join me on my journey to try and beat the beast while improving the lives and life chances of so many more people through the raising of charitable funds. Please sponsor me for every day I survive and am able to find the cognitive and physical capability to complete a day of activity designed to make me stronger and fitter thus strengthening my immune system, build my ‘backup generator’ in the left side of the brain or to bring a smile to somebody else’s face.

The Charities

The five main passions I hold are for:

  • 1. Health and the defeat of cancer.
  • 2. Youth and the breaking of the cycle of disadvantage.
  • 3. Those in need around the UK and the world.
  • 4. Environment and conservation of the glorious world around us.
  • 5. Support for the men and women who stand up to fight for our freedoms and those of others around the world.

The charities that I subsequently selected to support therefore are:

  • 1. Health – Cancer Research UK – My Father Succumbed to Lung Cancer; a couple of friends are currently fighting cancer and I am fighting a brain tumour. Let’s Help to Beat Cancer Sooner.
  • 2. Youth – The Prince’s Trust – Inspiring and preparing disadvantaged Young Lives for success.
  • 3. Those in Need Around the UK and the World – British Red Cross – Helping people in crisis whoever and wherever they are.
  • 4. Environment – WWF – For a Living Planet and a Future Where People and Nature Thrive in partnership.
  • 5. Servicemen and women – Help for Heroes – Support for our Wounded and their Families.

What’s The Challenge

My Beat the Beast campaign was focused on trying to strengthen treatment through good diet and exercise but also to try and beat the cognitive and motor degradation by trying to train the brain and make it more able to take over cognitive and motor functions when the right hand side tries to switch me off. So I want to try and undertake activity which will force the brain to tackle new cognitive and motor challenges while strengthening the body thus strengthening my immune system. So the sponsor is challenging me to find the resolve and get up, get out there and make the most out of each day God gives me in order to ‘Live Life to try and Beat the Beast while helping to improve the Lives and Life Chances of so many more people!!'

How long can I go on for?!?!?!?

How many miles can I cover?

How many metres in height can I gain?

How many people can I meet?

How many pots of tea can I share?

How much can I raise?
